September is Attendance Awareness Month
School Attendance Did you know……. -Students who are absent frequently are at a greater risk for dropping out of school? -Excessive absences can decrease a student’s ability to read proficiently? According to NC law, once you have enrolled your child in school, they are required to attend school regularly. Parents must make good faith effort to get their child to school. Excessive absences could potentially lead to legal action. We need your help to make sure all students attend school each day on time. Here are a few tips to help improve student attendance and success.School starts promptly at 8:15 am. Students can enter the building at 7:45 am. If students are going to eat breakfast, send them to school early. If your child rides the bus to school, make sure you are at your assigned bus stop at least 10 minutes before your bus is scheduled to arrive. When your child is out sick or absent due to medical appointments, please send in a note to classroom teacher upon student’s return to school.Schedule medical appointments after school when possible. Avoid scheduling vacations and trips when school is in session.ONLY keep students at home when they are sick. If you would like more information regarding attendance, please visit: attendanceworks.org and/or reachoutandread.org
